As a student of Selah Seminary we consider you a spiritual son/daughter. This community God has built is more than a coaching program or a ministry training school, it is a call to “covenant relationship.” A covenant (often known in Hebrew as berith) isn't just an agreement or contract; it's a solemn, binding relationship filled with commitment, promise, and unwavering faithfulness.
This handbook outlines:
This is based on the Holy Spirit’s mandate and the learned wisdom over the years of discipling spiritual sons and daughters. This handbook will continue to be revised as the Holy Spirit leads. We strongly invite your input as our relationship progresses.
If you need support, our Vice President of Student Recruitment and Leadership Development, Mya McQueen is your first point of contact ([email protected]). She is available to listen to your questions or concerns and will work with you to provide guidance or connect you with the right resources if needed.
We pray that this Handbook armors you in the place of prayer to protect our relationship with all diligence.
Our primary expectation of ourselves is to continually point you to Jesus (Hebrews 12:2). Every part of this relationship flows from that foundation.
Below is the full expression of what it means for us to point you to Him:
We will teach you to pray by praying with you.
(Luke 11:1; Colossians 4:2)
We will love you like Christ loves the Church.
We will encourage you, affirm you, celebrate who you are apart from performance, call out your God-given strengths, honor the uniqueness He placed inside you, and cover your weaknesses in prayer.
(Ephesians 5:25; Romans 12:10; 1 Thessalonians 5:11)
We will check on you holistically.
We care about your emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical well-being.
(3 John 1:2; 1 Thessalonians 5:23)
We will challenge you to become who God has called you to be.
We do this according to Scripture, your identity in Christ, and the prophetic revelation God is releasing.
(Ephesians 4:1; 1 Peter 2:9; 1 Timothy 1:18)
We will correct and rebuke you in love.
This relationship is not based on making you “feel good,” but on helping you look more like Christ.
(Proverbs 27:6; Hebrews 12:6; 2 Timothy 3:16)
We will call out your blind spots in love as the Holy Spirit leads.
(Psalm 139:23–24; Galatians 6:1)
We will challenge you to test all prophetic leadings by Scripture and to wait patiently for God to fulfill His Word.
(1 Thessalonians 5:20–21; Habakkuk 2:3)
We will provide books, training, or coaching recommendations if we believe they will support your spiritual growth.
(Ephesians 4:12–13; Proverbs 11:14)
